Friday Night On South Beach
Friday night on South Beach offers so many different choices for entertainment, that sometimes it's hard to figure out exactly what a guy should do. One of our favorite options is the weekly Friday night party upstairs at Club Nikki on One Ocean Drive. We tend to look for places that attracts great crowds, features good music and has a good reputation and vibe; lately Club Nikki has been fitting the bill nicely.
Each week DJ JP Rigaud & DJ Erasmo keep everyone happy by spinning a wide range of music at Club Nikki. The venue, which is located inside of the Nikki Beach facility, is newly remodeled with a crowd full of jet setters and gorgeous women from all sides of the globe. The guys behind Club Nikki are also responsible for Nikki Style Magazine, so they obviously know how the high rollers like to be treated.
If you want to be down you can just shoot an email to thelist@perpetualvibe.com with the number of people in your party to bypass the long lines and cover charge. Just make sure you roll up to the door proper. Proper = at least an even ratio of girls to guys and dress like you mean it. Keep it sexy and there will be no problems. Tell them PimpWiz sent you.

Members Only: A Fad That Was Better Off Dead
Do you remember those cheesy Members Only jackets that every greaseball and his brother used to wear in the '80s? We're sad to say that the brand has been revived by former fashion and celebrity magazine editor Kelli Delaney. And not only did she bring back the brand, she adapted it for women. Why in the world would any woman want to wear a jacket from an extremely tired menswear trend? You're guess is as good as ours.Delaney added a number of overblown modern touches to what used to be the coolest jacket a guy could own in the '80s. She debuted her collection the other night at the Henri Bendel store on Fifth Avenue. The jackets keep some of the same feel as the vintage model, but for instance instead of the familiar black nylon job the new collection features a pastel-hued nylon bomber jacket. The spring collection also includes tailored leather jackets, feminine leather vests and a an assortment of sexy, mini, knit dresses. Ugh.
Don't think this ends with the women's collection. Delaney is now setting her sights on the guys. Members Only debuts their mens collection sometime this fall. You can also expect to see the "When you put it on something happens" tag line we remember from so many old commercials used in all of the marketing materials for the new collections.
For now you can check out the women's collection exclusively at Henri Bendel. The jackets retail for $950, while the dresses come in a tad under $400. Or you can try to find one of the old jackets on EBay for $10. Either way the Members Only craze is one fad that was much better off dead and buried. We will leave it for Kayne and his biters to rock this throw back from the 80's

Adam Tensta Goes Worldwide
When you think about Sweden, Hip Hop isn't one of the first things that comes to mind. Adam Tensta aims to change that with the release of two extremely infectious singles that are both getting tons of plays on both MySpace and YouTube. Tensta may be Swedish, but he raps in English making his music accessible to fans in both Europe and the States.Adam arrived on the scene by dropping the groove-laden They Wanna Know, a tune that helps explain what the Swedish MC is all about. From the heavy beat to Tensta's Kanye-esque delivery to the song's flashy video it's no surprise that They Wanna Know is getting spun at clubs worldwide.
My Cool, Tensta's latest single, picks up where They Wanna Know left off, with a killer beat that is equal parts Beck and The Neptunes. You just gotta love the electro-vibe of this incredible track. We also like that Adam focuses his polished raps on the positives in the world.
The artist born into the world as Adam Momodou Eriksson Taal, borrowed his stage name from the name of the Stockholm suburb where he grew up. Look for his new album, It's A Tensta Thing, to hit stores soon. Trust us, it won't be long before this Swedish export makes his mark in this country. Check out more of Adam Tensta's songs over at his MySpace.

Disturbing Fun at Japanese Bug Fights
One of the most disgusting sites to ever grace the internet is the newly unveiled Japanese Bug Fights, yet I just can't look away. You can get your Michael Vick on by watching multiple videos of insects fighting to the death. Sure it's sick and barbaric, but don't tell me you never stepped on a bug.
There are three simple rules to Japanese Bug Fighting. First you can only have two bugs to a fight. Also, Bug Fights go on until one of the participants dies. Finally, there are no outside weapons allowed in Bug Fights. We couldn't find the rule about not talking about Bug Fight Club, so we'll continue with the post.
Japanese Bug Fights features a number of different types of insects including a mantis and a wolf spider. Some of the fights on the site are incredibly vicious, especially the 30th round bout between a scorpion and a beetle. Only the Japanese could come up with something so disturbingly entertaining. We're hoping for a multi-bug Battle Royal surfaces next.

Apple TV - Take 2 and iTunes Rentals
Steve Jobs announced an update to the Apple TV at Macworld San Francisco this week as well as iTunes Movie Rentals, which were already rumored to be part of his Macworld keynote speech.
Jobs admitted that Apple's online video plan had been a disappointment and that users didn't take to watching online video the way Apple had expected. When Jobs first announced the Apple TV last January, Apple's initial video plan was too complicated for many people. Getting a movie or TV show onto your Apple TV required customers to buy the video from the iTunes Store, download it to their computer, then sync/stream the file using an Apple TV.

Although Apple has already sold 7 million movies, Jobs said: "That’s more than everyone else put together, but it did not meet our expectations."
Apple plans on overhauling their strategy by making 2 major changes:
Jobs thinks that viewers would prefer to rent movies, not buy them. As a result, the new Apple TV software will allow users to rent first run films from every major movie studio including Fox, WB, Paramount, Universal and Sony in HD. Jobs called it "A better way to provide movies to our customers." Blockbuster and Netflix can't be happy right now.

1000 films ready for rental will be available on iTunes starting in February. Going forward, movies will be available to rent 30 days after they are released on DVD. Broadband users won't have to wait for these giant movie files to download. Moments after you rent the film using your Apple TV, it will be watchable immediately via streaming. How much are movie rentals? $2.99 to rent older titles, $3.99 for new releases. Add one more $1 to those prices if you want to rent the movie in HD.
Thomas Lesinski, president of Paramount Pictures Digital Entertainment, joined Jobs on stage at Macworld and called the rental service a "defining moment" for the distribution of digital video content. "This is really going to take things to the next level," he said.

The new Apple TV software features will be included in a free Apple TV update scheduled to be released in February. You can update your Apple TV by selecting "Update Software" from the Settings menu.

Steve Jobs Announces the MacBook Air
I hope you didn't buy a new Apple laptop recently. Steve Jobs announced the MacBook Air at Macworld today.

The MacBook Air is the "World's Thinnest Notebook" - even thinner than the Sony TZ, which is 0.8 to 1.2 inches thick. It's so thin it fits in a manila envelope. Seriously. See the image below! Apple's goal was to make a high performance 3 pound laptop, with a full size keyboard, and large display.

The MacBook Air is so thin, it only has 4 ports: USB 2.0, Micro-DVI, headphone jack and a MagSafe 45w power adapter plug.
So what did Apple leave out? An optical drive. If you really want one, Apple is selling an optional external USB powered SuperDrive for $99. So how do you install software or get files off of CD/DVD? Apple has a new piece of software called Remote Disc which can be installed on any Mac or PC on your wireless network and will let you borrow that machine's optical drive.
MacBook Air features:
You can pre-order the MacBook Air today. Apple starts shipping them in 2 weeks.

10 of the Most Expensive Gifts Known to Man
Our interest was piqued by Bootstrapper's recent list featuring 25 of the Most Expensive Gifts Known to Man. Laura Milligan points out a wide range of expensive treats including a white diamond pacifier and diamond studded lipstick. We chose the ten gifts that we'd most like to own. Let's check it out...Nothing would make us happier than never dealing with a commercial airliner again:
Bombardier Global Express XRS Executive Jet: $48 million: If you’re constantly booking last-minute plane trips to exotic locations, this may be the gift for you. Back in February, TeamSugar posted Jim Trippon’s annual list of the Most Expensive Valentine’s Day Gifts in the World. The Bombardier Executive Jet topped the list at $48 million, so that you and your honey can fly off into the sunset to celebrate in style. The kid in us would just love to own the most expensive toy soldier on the market:
Why not treat our children to some of the luxuries we enjoy?:
First G.I. Joe: $200,000: G.I. Joes were meant to be tossed around and buried in the dirt by rough and tough little boys, but the buyer of this action figure will probably want to keep it locked up in a glass case. Setting a world record for the most expensive toy soldier, the buyer purchased the G.I. Joe in 2003 directly from the creator for $200,000.
Any wine lover would enjoy making quick work of this vintage:
Ferrari Go-Cart: $50,000: If your kids are too young for a real Ferrari, ease them into the luxury auto market with a $50,000 Ferrari go-cart, also from FAO Schwartz. Your children will be the toughest, coolest kids on the block and will put all those Barbie-mobiles to shame.
Most Expensive Champagne: $17,625: What would a holiday or birthday celebration be without a little bubbly? If you’re feeling extra generous the next time you’re invited to a party, why not try to get your hands on this bottle, which was sold in 2005 at an auction for over $17,000.
Our need for speed would be fulfilled by this bad boy:
Bugatti Veyron: $1.7 million: In 2006, Neiman Marcus included this super charged car in its annual Christmas Book for the price of $1.7 million. According to Wikipedia, the Bugatti Veyron “is the most expensive and fastest accelerating street-legal production car in the world.” In other words, it’s just perfect for the speed-obsessed millionaire on your list. We'd really enjoy flying off to the tropical locale of our choice at a moment's notice:
Boeing Business Jet: $35.2 million: In 2002, About.com reported that the Boeing Business Jet was “the most expensive item ever offered” up for sale in the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. With its swank interior and unbeatable reputation, it’s no surprise that the big boys’ toy was a tantalizing item even in its unfinished form.Ever since we heard Ringo Starr sing, we've always wanted a submarine of our own:
Triton 1000: $1.44 million: Perhaps the most bizarre gift featured in the 2007 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book is the Triton 1000 submarine, just in case your holiday plans include plunging into the ocean for research, top-secret military missions or, you know, sightseeing.
If Montana is good enough for Ted Turner, it's good enough for us:
10 Acres in Paradise Valley: $2.3 million: Many people agree that land is the most precious possession, especially as humans continue to overpopulate even the most remote areas. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway for your family, try bidding on “10 acres of secluded land among the mountains of Paradise Valley in Montana, up for grabs for $2.3 million” and included in the 2007 Christmas Book.Sometimes we just want to escape from it all:
Ronde Island: $100 million: Don’t bother mixing with the common riff-raff during holiday resort season; instead, purchase your own island as a gift for your family so that you can enjoy a unique vacation in private luxury. The website Gifts.Infoniac.com advertises the Ronde Island in Grenada in the Caribbean, which, for $100 million, could be yours to enjoy. And finally, we've always had big eyes:
World’s Most Expensive Diamond: $7.98 million: If you’re planning to pop the big question during the holidays, why not do it with the world’s most expensive diamond? In November 2007, the Moussaieff Jewellers of London purchased the blue diamond for nearly $8 million at a Sotheby’s auction in Hong Kong. How could anyone turn down that kind of a proposal?

Two New Services For JFK Travelers
Simply check-in at the heliport and board one of US Helicopter's Sikorsky choppers after a brief screening by a TSA agent. An Eos agent will meet you at the airport, and escort you either to the lounge or directly to your flight. You don't even have to handle any of your bags, as they will be checked straight through to London. Eos offers 44 flights a week between JFK and Stansted.
Another new service worth noting recently opened up at JFK. Itseasy.com, a company that specializes in expediting US passports and foreign visas, opened a 24/7 service center for travelers. Let's say you aren't allowed to board a flight because your passport doesn't have enough pages. Just head to the Hotel Desk on the ground floor of Terminal 4, and look for Itseasy.com's emergency help desk.
Other uses for Itseasy's new service desk include same day passport processing (in most cases), a Concierge service and the ability to secure visas for future travel. This is the first desk of its kind at an American airport. Who says New Yorkers aren't ahead of the curve?

The Portabello Returns To The Market

If you've got $75 million dollars burning a hole in your pocket, we've got just the place for you. The 30,000 square foot Portabello Estate in California's Orange County is currently on the block. Forbes named the Portabello one of the ten most expensive houses in the world. While we'd usually say any place selling for $75 million can't possibly be worth the price tag, this architectural masterpiece may be the exception to the rule.
The first thing you notice when looking at the Portabello Estate are all of the gorgeous views found around the residence. Each of the eight bedrooms and ten and a half bathrooms were laid out to give them the most expansive views of the Pacific Ocean possible. The mansion graces three full lots in the heart of Newport Beach, with easy access to both town and the serene beach.
Another feature of the house that stands out are all the sensuous curves that make up the nautilus shell-like design of the estate. At the center of Portabello is a sun-washed grotto featuring multiple pools including a swim-up bar and a poolside lounge. All of the bedrooms surround the grotto giving the mansion the feel of a five-star beach front resort. There is even a barbecue area for entertaining guests outdoors.
There are also plenty of luxurious amenities found indoors that really push the Portabello Estate over the top. The house features an entertainment level complete with an Art Deco Theater, bowling alley and automotive museum. There is also a full exercise facility and cafe located on premises. With these features. and all the others that we can't possibly list, the new owner may never leave home.
For more information on the Portabello Estate check out Portabello.com.

Keep An Eye Out With Rovio
Have you ever wondered exactly what's going on at your home or office when you're not there? Now you can keep tabs on the action thanks to a new robot called the Rovio. WowWee's WiFi-enabled Rovio, clearly one of the cooler things to be unveiled at this year's CES, contains a webcam that you can control from anyplace that has an internet connection. You can even stream the video from Rovio on your Internet enabled mobile phone or video game console. Rovio also captures audio, just in case you ever wanted to find out what your partner is saying about your latest project. There are any number of uses for Rovio including watching your pets or children and having web conferences with your family or your colleagues at work. The robot runs on a rechargeable battery. If the battery level becomes low you can press a button to send Rovio back its charging station.
Northstar, a smart navigation and positioning system, is the key to Rovio's accuracy in moving from place to place. The robot can easily be trained to avoid the obstacles that can be found in a cluttered room. Rovio even contains LED illumination to help navigate in the dark. Video and audio stream quickly using the 802.11b and g standards.
Look for Rovio to hit stores towards the end of 2008. While you might think this gadget would cost a pretty penny, WowWee claims the robot will retail for $299. Now it's up to you to keep your eyes open for someone else using Rovio to watch you.

Paramount Drops HD-DVD
UPDATE:Paramount spokeswoman Brenda Ciccone made this statement in response to reports that Paramount is abandoning the HD-DVD format: "Paramount's current plan is to continue to support the HD-DVD format." The statement didn't specify if Paramount would also produce Blu-ray DVDs in addition to HD-DVDs. It will be interesting to see how this story pans out.I just gave the bad new to one of the guys in the Toshiba booth at CES. He wasn't happy. Their HD-DVD focused booth looks a little silly now.
According to the Financial Times, Paramount is going to drop their support for Toshiba's HD-DVD after Warner Brothers pulled out of the HD-DVD camp last Sunday night. This will most likely put the final nail in the coffin of the HD-DVD format and end the biggest home entertainment format war since Betamax vs. VHS.
Why the sudden switch? Why did Paramount go over to Sony's Blu-ray so quickly? Insiders are saying that a clause in Paramount's contract allowed the company to drop HD-DVD in the event that Warner Bros decided to back Blu-ray.

That's right, you'll now be getting tipsy while drinking out of a bottle made of pure white gold. And beyond the expensive materials used to make the bottles, the sexy and sleek curvature of the bottle with the Perignon crest engraved in it will also have you falling head over heels.Dom Perignon has been the champagne of choice by the rich and noteworthy since the 80's, so it's no surprise that this company knows all there is to know about class. Want to sip on a glass of jerobaum? Good luck, because there are only 100 bottles that will be distributed world wide. In Japan bottles are going for $11,000 (1.26 million yen) and right here in the United States the drink can be consumed at nightclubs for up to $40,000 a pop. It might dent your wallet a bit, but at least you'll dent it in style.
But this drink is more than just a status symbol, this is top quality bubbly, as usual. When you taste the rich brioche, honey, almond and apricot mixture you'll see that the high end packaging is totally justifiable. So the next time you're in the VIP room or just treating your lady to a fine dinner, don't forget to put one of these babies on ice; it's sure to make a lasting impression.

Imagine if you could own your own yacht without all the hassles that are usually involved with owning your own boat? Turnkey Yachting has become a reality thanks to a revolutionary new program from SeaNet. All you have to do is write a check to SeaNet, and they will take care of the rest. You don't have to deal with stocking, driving or cleaning the boat; just walk onto your SeaNet yacht and leave the headaches to them.SeaNet's program works just like fractional jet companies such as NetJets and FlexJet. Simply purchase your membership from SeaNet, and you'll gain access to their growing fleet of Sunseeker Yachts at one of a variety of price levels. SeaNet's five star program includes a concierge, crew, captain, slip fees, insurance and more. Most people that use the program wind up using their yachts more than if they owned the boat themselves.
One thing we really like about SeaNet's program, are all of the different options they offer. You can choose from owning a 1/3 share, a 1/4 share or a 1/6 share. A 1/3 share entitles you to 9 days a month, 108 days a year of ownership. A 1/4 share ownership position provides 7 days a month, 84 days a year of ownership. A 1/6 share ownership position provides 9 days every other month, 54 days a year of ownership. Prices range from $278,500 to $1.391 million depending on the style of yacht and share you'd like.
Why let your guests have all the fun? Become a member of SeaNet, and you can actually enjoy owning a yacht. Find out more about SeaNet at Seanetco.com.

Righteous Kill - De Niro and Pacino Team Up Again
The most anticipated movie of 2008 has to be Righteous Kill, a suspense film that teams up actors Robert De Niro and Al Pacino for the first time since 1995. De Niro and Pacino star as two veteran detectives who hunt a vigilante killer that might be one of their own. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson makes his return to the screen as the vigilante killer. Jon Avnet directed the film, which is slated to hit theaters on April 18th.Righteous Kill marks Professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek's film debut. The extremely attractive Carla Gugino joins the cast as De Niro's love interest. Also starring in the film will be Frank John Hughes, John Leguizamo and Donnie "New Kid on the Block" Wahlberg. Veteran actor Brian Dennehy, best known to us as Big Tom from Tommy Boy, rounds out the incredible ensemble.
The idea for the film originated from Robert De Niro and Al Pacino's desire to work with each other again. De Niro and Pacino first starred together in The Godfather: Part II, but they never actually shared the screen at the same time. They finally got a chance to actually work at the same time for 1995's Heat. Yet they only performed two scenes together, so Righteous Kill marks the first time they will act together for a whole film. We can't wait to see what these guys have in store.
Righteous Kill may have a 60 million dollar budget, but it's actually an indie film. The production was put together by Nu Image's Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla Films. Nu Image is one of the few indie houses capable of delivering a studio-esque production thanks to over 15 years in the biz. The trailer looks amazing, so check it out yourself.

Bond 22: Here Comes Gemma Arterton
The 22nd installment of the James Bond series started filming this week. If you think like we think the first question that entered your mind was who's the new Bond girl? For Bond 22 the producers went with newcomer Gemma Arterton. The gorgeous 22 year old hails from England, and most recently starred in the British film St. Trinians. She has been called the next Keira Knightley with similar looks and charisma.Bond 22 picks up where Casino Royale left off, so it will be interesting to see how the main character recovers from the loss of his true love. We have no doubt Gemma Arterton's character, who will be named "Fields," will try to win Bond's affection. Rumors of Gemma's participation have been swirling on the blogs for months, but the producers only confirmed her role last week.
Swiss born director Marc Forster plans to offer a more cerebral Bond, a bit of a change from Casino Royale director Martin Campbell's take on the smoothest man in the history of the world. Thankfully Daniel Craig, the sixth man to play James Bond, returns in the lead role. Mathieu Amalric and Joaquin Cosio will play the bad guys this time around. Look for Bond 22 to hit theaters later this year, and be sure to keep your eyes out for Gemma Arterton.

Koenigsegg CCXR - World's Fastest Biofuel Supercar
When you think of environmentally friendly cars, speed isn't usually one of the first things that comes to mind. Swedish car manufacturer Koenigsegg aims to change that with the introduction of the new special edition CCXR Supercar. The ethanol burning Koeningsegg CCXR Supercar is the second most powerful production car in the world, with only slightly less power than the SSC Ultimate Aero TT. This one-of-a-kind supercar can go from 0-100 in 2.9 seconds and has top travel speeds of 400km/h.The CCXR sports a cast-aluminum V8 engine with 1,018hp capable of running on biofuel. Koeningsegg's new car runs on E85 biofuel consisting of 85% ethanol and 15% unleaded. Ironically the burning of ethanol cools the combustion chamber allows for higher pressure in the cylinder. Add that to biofuel's increased octane rating and you get one incredibly fast sports car. But the CCXR isn't just a speedy car, it's also a beautifully designed automobile with a removable roof.
Koenigsegg designed the CCXR as a follow-up to their ultra sleek CCX model. CCX owners will have the option of having their cars converted to the same engine specification as the CCXR for approximately $100,000. The Swedish car manufacturer will continue to produce the CCX, as biofuel isn't widely available yet.
If you're interested in purchasing one of these bad boys get ready to shell out around 3 million dollars, according to some estimates. Our friends at Trendhunter have the first photos and a video of the production model.

iTunes Movie Rentals - Rumors Say They Are Coming Soon
According to reports, Apple is close to announcing plans to make Fox and Disney movies available as online rentals via iTunes (US). Apple CEO Steve Jobs is likely saving the official announcement for his Macworld Expo keynote on Jan. 14.Customers would pay a fee to download titles viewable on computers, iPods, iPhones and presumably Apple TV devices that would expire after a short window of time. Netflix, Amazon.com and Blockbuster's Movielink are competitors in this space.
Wal-Mart, however, has thrown in the towel. Wal-Mart.com quietly pulled the plug on its video download service late last month as Hewlett Packard decided to discontinue the back-office technology that powered it. The service, popular with studios because it offered variable pricing, struggled with compatibility issues. Wal-Mart downloads could not be burned to DVDs or watched on video iPods.
