Sex Predator: Busted AGAIN!

Wow! Is it really possible for people to be this dumb? This guy named Michael got busted on Dateline "To Catch a Predator" twice. I found the video of his 2nd bust on YouTube and almost fell out of my chair laughing. It was so good I figured I blog it for everyone else to enjoy.

The day after he gets out of court from the 1st time he got busted on Dateline "To Catch a Predator," he gets busted on Dateline again. How did this guy not learn his lesson the 1st time? When Chris Hansen walks out and calls Michael by name, Michael knows he's in trouble. All Michael can say is "oopsy" while he repeatedly rubs his head like he's trying to warm up his brain and figure a way out of this familiar situation. Well look on the bright side, at least Michael gets to see all his friends in jail again. I love this show.

Michael is a snappy dresser too. Guys, always remember to button the top button for the ladies... predator style.

YouProfit with YouTube

In an effort to stay competitive with revenue sharing viral video sites like Revver, Chad Hurley, co-founder of YouTube, said that his site will start sharing profits with its millions of users. The announcement was made during Hurley's speech at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland this past Saturday. Many active YouTube users have started removing their videos and reposting them on Revver so they can make some money off their hard work. Revver started sharing profits with their users back in October of 2005.
"We are getting an audience large enough where we have an opportunity to support creativity, to foster creativity through sharing revenue with our users... So in the coming months we are going to be opening that up" Hurley said.
How much will popular YouTube posters like The Wine Kone or Adam Wade start making off their videos? It's still unknown. Hurley didn't go into any payment details during his speech.

About 70 million videos are viewed daily on YouTube, which was sold to Google for $1.65 billion last year.

DIY Nintendo Wii Steering Wheel

You might remember hearing about a wave of wounded people when the Nintendo Wii first came out last November. A combination of physically unfit Wii owners and a weak Wiimote strap was causing people to accidentally do things like punch their dogs or dislocate knees. Well apparently everyone’s wounds have healed and they’re starting to experiment with their new gaming systems.

One ambitious Wii owner even decided to make his own steering wheel and upload a picture of it to GoNintendo.com. The official Wii steering wheel is included with most racing games like GT Pro Series and Monster 4X4: World Circuit; but why pay extra for a game bundled with a wheel when you can just make your own?

While this particular DIY wheel leaves a lot to be desired (especially when it comes to style points), I'll give this lumpy homemade masterpiece an A+ for effort.

Heroes and Zeroes

Heroes is going digital. The hit American TV series on the the NBC network is relaunching its Web site with new interactive features coinciding with a batch of new original on-air episodes. NBC hopes the multiplatform strategy will deepen the "Heroes" mythos with additional content for Internet and mobile applications.

Some of these new digital offerings include a real-time, two-screen application that plays out on the PC along with each episode, commentary from cast members set to streamed episodes, and mobile content.

NBC is even making special viral clips to help promote Heroes on video sharing sites like Vmix and YouTube. The latest Heroes clip is a parody called "Zeroes" about ordinary people with relatively pointless abilities. Check it out on Vmix or YouTube. If you are a fan of the show you'll really enjoy it.

Videos by VMIX Member: NBC

Jeff Gaspin, president of NBC Universal Cable Entertainment and Digital Content had this to say about the new online presence for Heroes in The Hollywood Reporter: "Heroes has proven itself a hit on-air and online, and these extensions of rich, original content will allow our audience unprecedented access to new levels of the show as they dig deeper."

Ask Lauren: "Mr. Romance"

Dear Lauren,

"Reply quickly before I lose the girl I care about.
Hi i have this thing with a girl I really like. All, we ever do is hook up we never have sex just make out and things of that nature. I would really like to have a relationship with her but she says she's not sure of me because all we ever do is physical things.

I was wondering if you could give me some advice on what I can do to prove to her that I'm not just trying to get into her pants. One other problem is she has feelings for another guy who lives far away. She barely sees him they just write and talk on the phone and i was wondering if you could help me out. I really do like this girl and I care about her. I don't want to lose her...Mr.Romance"

Lauren's Reply:

Dear Mr. Romance,

Let’s start off by being honest. Even if you do really like this chick, you are a male and a human and you do want to get in her pants…I am sure pretty badly too. And whether you want to admit it or not, all that kissing and rubbing is sure to chafe even the biggest “ego.”

But you can like a girl and want to be sexual with her too; it is hard to find but those two qualities CAN co-exit in a woman, and it is not a bad thing to want to be physical with someone you care about. The trick is making her feel cared about as well and not just wanted. Women tend to think that if you try to get in her pants, that you don’t want to get in her head and get to know her. You have to prove her wrong.

The first step is, unfortunately, holding back physically, with everything from a graze of her leg, to holding her hand. Make her earn even your slightest touch; make her want to accidentally bump into you just to remember what you feel like. Women are creatures of imagination and once a girl is intrigued or left curious, she will come to you with desire and with respect– a dual win for you. Desire and respect are what make women drop their inhibitions, and most of the time, their pants.

If you are doing it right, you should be acting the same emotionally and mentally, just restraining the physical part thus making her want to be touched, and thinking “wow, he is such a great, chivalrous guy. He likes me and deserves to be with me now.” Sometimes it takes a drought to make people want rain. Sometimes it takes hunger to make someone appreciate food. Sometimes it takes no touch, being numb for awhile, to feel again.

And don’t worry about that other guy. He is on the other side of the phone line; you are on the other side of the table from her. If you are patient and make her understand your intentions through playing a little game called “hard to get,” you will be the one she keeps close by and him, far away where he belongs.

-Lauren

The most complicated model by Graham is this Piece Unique with a tourbillon, a minute repeater and splits-seconds chronograph.

Seven years later he was admitted to the Company of Clockmakers and trained under other masters of his time. Though he died penniless, during his life Graham's research and innovative creativity would come to impact the watch world forever. In 1715 he invented the anchor escapement. Other inventions for which he is credited include the deadbeat escapement, the mercury compensation pendulum, the minute repeater with damper, and the chronograph! The Graham brand is Swiss but carries on old English watchmaking traditions with its limited annual production of exceptionally well defined chronographs.

MoGo Wireless Bluetooth Mouse

The MoGo Wireless Mouse is a business-card sized, Bluetooth-enabled mouse that stores and recharges neatly inside (yes, inside…) your laptop's PC card slot. To recharge your MoGo Mouse, just slide it into the empty PC card slot in your laptop. It will fully recharge in less than an hour and provide you with enough power for about 8 or 9 hours of use.

As you can imagine, the MoGo Mouse is specifically designed for people who spend a lot of time traveling like writers, reporters and sales reps. Other mice, even those meant for travelers, usually don’t cut it. Mini-mice (aka “walnut shells”) get lost in your hand and are difficult to maneuver, and the idea of carrying a full-sized mouse defeats the entire purpose of mobility on the go.

The MoGo Mouse is a natural fit for road warriors. Storing it inside you PC Card (PCMCIA) slot is pure genius and the fact that it charges there is just the icing on the cake. The only thing I'd like to see in future models is a scroll wheel. I know that the size of it makes it hard to have a wheel but maybe a touch wheel, like one some laptops, could have been possible.
"an excellent tool for the road warrior or... minimalist." ~ GetUSB.info
If you spend a lot of time on the road with your laptop, then the MoGo Wireless Mouse will just make your life easier.

iPhone: Cisco vs Apple

If you were paying attention to all the hype building up to the Apple iPhone announcement on Tuesday, then you might recall the little snag concerning who actually owns the "iPhone" name.

Even though Apple unveiled the iPhone in San Francisco this week, Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems Inc., announced a product called the iPhone on December 18th, 2006. The Linksys iPhone is a Web-enabled telephone handset capable of making calls over the Internet using voice over Internet protocol (VOIP).

So how can two different companies lay claim to the "iPhone" name? That's the problem... they can't.

Linksys, actually owns the "iPhone" trademark because of a Cisco acquisition. A company called Infogear registered the "iPhone" name in 1996. Then Cisco then absorbed the "iPhone" trademark when it acquired Infogear in the year 2000.

So what happens now? It's all up to the lawyers. Cisco filed a lawsuit against Apple yesterday in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco. Basically Cisco and Apple need to reach a settlement or Apple will have to call their iPhone something different like iChat Mobile.

According to the NY Post, Cisco thought it had reached a deal with Apple. The two companies were reportedly engaged in heated talks over the "iPhone" name the past few weeks leading up to the Apple iPhone announcement.
"We sent them final terms on Monday, but we never got approval back," Cisco spokesman John Noh told The Post. "We're very open to sharing the trademark. We made that clear. But then they went ahead and used the name without our permission."
Apple has been trying to get the iPhone name away from Cisco since 2001 when they first released the iPod. Will Apple finally be successful? They obviously have something up their sleeve or they wouldn't have halted talks with Cisco and just announced the iPhone this week. It will be interesting to see what happens these next few months.

Apple plans on releasing the iPhone in June 2007.

Apple Announces iPhone, Apple TV

Every once in a while a revolutionary product comes along that changes everything. Apple, a company known for innovation, has been very fortunate in this regard. In 1984 they introduced the world to the first Macintosh and changed personal computing forever. Then in 2001 Apple introduced the first iPod and redefined the music industry.

Today Apple introduced 3 revolutionary products: widescreen iPod, mobile phone, and internet communicator. But there's a catch... these revolutionary products aren't 3 separate devices. They are all rolled into one product called the iPhone ($499 4GB, $599 8GB).

The iPhone (GSM+EDGE) has a touchscreen interface with multitouch capabilities. That means you can use multiple fingers at the same time. How can such a small device have an advanced multitouch interface? The iPhone runs the Macintosh operating system OS X. How did Apple fit an entire operating system into a tiny phone? I don't know. Magic?

The iPhone syncs to your computer just like your iPod. All your media (music, videos, podcasts, etc.) as well as contacts, email amd calendars will sync to your iPhone. You can even add any any IMAP or POP email account. Yahoo users will like this next perk. Yahoo is giving all iPhone owners free IMAP email. You normally have to pay extra for this feature.

Web browsing on a mobile phone was probably one of the worst user experiences you've ever encountered. Well those days are over. The iPhone uses the Safari browser and can smoothly navigate complicated sites like Google Maps.

And if all this iPhone business wasn't enough, Steve Jobs also announed Apple TV ($299) - a way to enjoy your media on your big screen TV. Anything you put into iTunes (content from iTunes, DVDs you've ripped, videos from YouTube, etc.) can be wirelessly transmitted to your Apple TV box.

The Apple TV has 802.11 WiFi (b, g + n) and will automatically sync from your PC.

More Apple TV specs:
  • 40GB HD
  • 720p HD video
  • componet
  • RCA
  • USB 2.0
  • ethernet
  • WiFi
  • HDMI

Zune vs Baseball Bat

On last Thursday's episode of Mad Money, host Jim Cramer selected Apple Computer as his No. 2 growth stock of 2007.

Cramer picked Apple Computer over Microsoft and decided to vent his rage against Microsoft by smashing a new brown Zune with a baseball bat. In case you missed it, the Zune smashing video is now on YouTube.

Although Apple's up more than 175% the last two years and more than 50% since July, Cramer believes Apple Computer will move higher because "picking stocks is not like flipping a coin." There's no balancing out that occurs, he said. Instead, "winners keep winning and "losers keep losing."

Cramer considers Apple a winner that has changed the way people listen to music with the iPod and the iTunes Store. "Not only [Apple] a brand people trust and love, but it is cool... Microsoft's Zune MP3 player will not be able to push past Apple."

Cramer went on to say that there are always bears and short-sellers, but in Apple's case "they are wrong and should get buried... [Apple] has a winning formula, and nothing is going against it."

You can subscribe to the Mad Money "Lightning Round" video podcast in the iTunes Store here: Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer - The Lightning Round

Olbermann = Internet Buzz

The Democrats may have wrested back control of power in Congress, but that hasn't quieted the ire of American cable news broadcaster Keith Olbermann. The 47-year-old is known for his Special Commentary segments on MSNBC's "Countdown With Keith Olbermann," where he regularly tears apart US President George W. Bush.

Olbermann's outspoken political views have also made him a hero/villain in the blogosphere. Olbermann's show is a frequent topic of debate on both conservative and liberal political blogs and his "Special Commentary" segments are all over digital video websites like YouTube. It seems like every time Olbermann opens his mouth people sit down at their computers and start typing. Does Olbermann = Internet buzz?

The promotional executives at NBC must think so. They are taking advantage of all the attention Olbermann is getting online. Last week MSNBC ran a very ballsy blogad campaign with this Olbermann quote:

"The President of the United States owes this country an apology."

The blogad campaign also featured an Olbermann desktop widget that pulls headlines from the shows RSS feed every 30 minutes. Even the biggest Olbermann junkie doesn't need more Keith than that, right?

With all this hype on the Internet, you are probably wondering how Olbermann's TV ratings are doing. Olbermann's fast-paced melange of politics and pop culture has made "Countdown With Keith Olbermann" MSNBC's top-rated show. Not bad for a former anchor of ESPN's Sportscenter. Maybe Craig Kilborn should take some notes. His performance in Bench Warmers wasn't exactly Oscar worthy.

PW Profile: David Drake

David Drake learned the meaning the meaning of the word , niche at the tender age of 8 when he sold cacti door to door. Now the owner of more than four companies, 500 apartments, and an active philanthropist, Drake, 36, isn’t ready to settle down any time soon. Here the owner of drakelife.com chats with us about his goals, his lifestyle, and why having a dope downtown loft is essential to every pimp’s lifestyle.

First off, can you tell us about your background?

I was born and raised in Sweden, went to Wall Street for a year, went to work in Sweden, didn’t like it, came back to New York and worked in commercial real estate. I did all kinds of deals for many, many years, and seven years ago I bought a listing service [that had] corporate housing, expanded on it, and here we are. I’ve probably started a hundred different ventures in sales [since then].

What’s this cactus thing about?
My mom had a cactus collection at home – she loved cactuses ‘cause you didn’t have to nurture them that much. I dunno how it started, but I was 8, took these little buds, put them in a little plastic bucket, put some dirt in it, and walked door to door and said “you wanna buy a cactus?” And these were some cool looking cactuses. So I’m coming home, eight years old, and I got dollar bills in my pocket. You know, 25 years ago, that was a big deal.

We heard you speak more than a few languages, are the rumors true?

If you’re American, I speak between seven and ten. If you’re European, I speak between five and eight. If you’re Chinese, I speak 15 *laughs* - but, if you’re drunk and American, then I speak twelve. If I’m drunk, and you’re American, then I speak 13. But if we’re both drunk, then I dunno what we’re talking about. It all depends on how drunk you are! You like that one? I gotta write that one down. In Sweden, we don’t dub the TV, so we see all of the movies in [their] natural languages, and we have to pick up, you know, 2 or 3 languages when we’re in school – so after a while, we just have a proclivity to pick up languages fast.

Tell us about your companies.
Drakelife is a corporate housing [company]. It’s been around for 7 years, [and it’s] doing very well. And the other one, who I’m hoping to surpass me, is Drakehouse securities. Then you also have lightninggps.com, another company that we just started recently because GPS [is so popular now]. There’s also Drake Lifestyle, and we do concerts at Carnegie Hall. I did one and people stood in line, it was sold out, and we’re doing one on February 18th that’s also a fundraiser for trailblazers.org. We take in kids, not the worst ones, and not the nice ones - the ones with issues. Take them to the woods for three weeks, three sessions each summer, and give them self esteem and confidence. So I’m raising money for that event, and we’ve already picked up about eight or ten [donation volunteers]: Roberto Cavalli donated things for the silent auction, I donated a yacht for a sunset cruise, Lalique is donating crystals…so it’s gonna be sold out again. The third one will be for the Ronald McDonald house, in New York, on May 17, we’re also working with Best Buddies. I want to work with charities like Paul Newman and St. Jude’s to raise awareness and put together fundraisers, because for me it’s been pretty easy to put things together. We’ve had 300 dinner parties here in the last three years.

What have been your biggest obstacles so far?
Financing - I built everything with my own money. And if I want to scale it, and move forward, I need to go to Wall Street . I don’t need to, but I’d like to go to Wall Street, to scale, because there’s so many other companies I’d like to build, and they’re gonna need financing to scale it, and if you wanna buy a factory in China, then you know, you’re gonna have to have private equity come in and help us.

Well, you’re 36, so where do you see yourself in ten more years?
I see myself with 20 great friends that do business in different industries, [with me as] the chairman of the companies. And just building great friendships, family, and having someone to share everything with. What’s the point of just working if you can’t share it? So you share it with your wife, your kids, your family, or your friends. That’s it. After that, what? You gonna sit at home by yourself? And that’s one of the reasons I’ve spent a quarter million on dinners here over the last two years, for tons of people.

What advice would you give to someone who’s trying to start out in real estate?
Do informational interviews with people who actually are very, very good at what they do. Find out: what is their angle? What is their competitive advantage? Are they married into a rich family? Are they hustlers? Do they entertain? How do they maintain and entertain their clients? Does the money come from the clients? How do they control the relationship of the client, and maintain it? What kind of marketing is the biggest part in the world? Very powerful. Do they take them out on a regular basis? Are they best buddies? Do they follow up, do they send Christmas letters? Do they use a certain software, like SalesForce, to maintain the relationship with their clients?

What are some of the perks that you’ve experienced from doing what you do?
My friends bring friends to the loft. I have easier access to people. I’m always meeting incredible people by continuously going out there and reaching out to people. And, you know, having this loft, girls – girls are always throwing themselves – but most of the time I’m just hanging out with my friends.

Sophie’s first break came in 1999, when she auditioned for “Popstars”, an
Australian TV show that sifted through young and talented women to form a
new girl band. Sophie’s classical voice and dance training got her into the
five-girl ensemble, which came to be known as “Bardot”, and hovered in the
Top 20 for several years. After their final 2002 hit single, “Love Will
Find a Way”, “Bardot” disbanded amicably and Sophie signed onto Warner Music
in hot pursuit of a solo career. Later that year, Monk was top in the Top 5
on her own, with her single “Inside Outside”.

As if she weren’t busy enough, Sophie became the spokeswoman for Expozay
Swimwear. The lovely Miss Monk used to work as a Marilyn Monroe
impersonator, so a modeling career seemed almost mandatory.

Soon, Sophie made her way to the big screen, appearing in light-hearted
movies like “Date Movie” (2006) and “Click” (2006) with Adam Sandler. Plan
on seeing more of her in 2007; this busy bee has already lent her acting
services to “Sex and Death 101” and “Spring Breakdown”. It would also seem
that you’ll be hearing more of her, as she signed on to Brian McKnight’s
management team and says she’s currently making things that are “a bit
heavier”.

Currently, one can only assume that Sophie spends her days balancing her
busy schedule, flitting from shoot to screening to recording, and fulfilling
her duties as First Lady to Benji Madden of Good Charlotte. Good job,
Benji.

Topless Japanese New Years

A "wardrobe malfunction" during a New Year's Eve broadcast apparently exposed the Japanese public to a little more than they were expecting. Several showgirl-style dancers performing with DJ Ozma went "topless" about 2 minutes and 20 seconds into his song "Bounce With Me."

The performance was part of a New Year's Eve special on the Japanese television network NHK. According to a Reuters report, NHK TV was flooded with viewer complaints after the broadcast and had to issue an official apology.

But hold on. Were the girls really topless? According to the website Japancast, the dancers were all just wearing flesh-colored body suits with exposed breasts painted on them. Is it a lie? Is NHK just trying to cover its ass? Maybe you should watch the DJ Ozma New Year's performance and decide for yourself.

Here's a link to the "topless" clip but NHK keeps complaining and having YouTube take the video down. You can also try searching for "DJ Ozma" on YouTube. As soon as you find the video, try to download it to your computer. It shouldn't be too hard to find the clip. People are reposting it faster than YouTube can pull it down.
