PimpWiz Tees - Ninja and EZ

Popular culture trends and news have out-grown the time lag of print publications, leaving websites such as PimpWiz.com at the forefront of current events, style, entertainment, and beyond.

PimpWiz has become more than just a website. We have joined forces with the best in the business and launched our exclusive t-shirt line which transcends the website into a lifestyle.

The images and tag-lines are obviously "Young Fresh to Def" and we purposely made our logo discrete like your goomah (also known as your down low, goomar, or your ninja chick)

The attention is not on the PimpWiz brand, but rather on the concepts and depictions that give readers the chance to wear the ideology of PimpWiz.

Our "EZ-E" shirt was just featured in the new Clipbandits Video! See if you can spot it ;-)

Look out for our new collabo with the dudes over at H&H. It's gonna be fire!

Naked People on Google Earth

Like sunbathing naked outdoors? Who doesn't (especially Europeans). Just keep in mind that one day a satellite might fly by and capture your naked body for the good of posterity. Services like Google Maps and Google Earth have made satellite photography accessible to anyone with an Internet connection. This topless sunbather became an overnight Internet sensation, but she's not alone. Apparently the Hague is overrun with naked and semi-naked Dutch people.

So grab a magnifying glass and open up Adobe Photoshop, because here's Google Sightseeing.com's Top 10 Naked People on Google Earth!

10) This picture got a lot of people hot under the collar. Many people think she's on her front, but personally I remain unconvinced.

09) Very close to the original topless sunbather, this one is definitely female, I think. It looks like she's lying on her front, and she does appear to have some kind of top on, so keep your hair on people!

08) Just six doors down, here's a half-naked Dutch, person. Wearing a sarong perhaps?

07) This ones been widely discussed on other sites, but I personally reckon this is a guy, wearing shorts. Phew!

06) This person thinks they have privacy on this rooftop (haven't they seen Enemy of the State?) and they're definitely topless! (Sex unknown of course, but topless nevertheless.)

05) Outside a cafe on the beach (presumably before it opened that day), we find someone sitting calmly in a chair, blissfully unaware the whole world can now see them in their birthday suit.

04) The previous nudist may have also been unaware that just on the other side of the building, there was another person sunning themselves - flat on their back and completely in the altogether! Does anyone know someone that works in this cafe by the way?

03) Again on the beach, here's a couple of naked people who think they can hide behind a beach wind wall! Don't they know there is no escape?

02) Hiding away behind some bushes is no escape either. Mind you, I wish that person would keep their legs together. Yeuch!

01) Well, do you know of a better picture? I'm sure there's loads more brilliant ones yet to be found. So fire up Google Earth and start searching! Enjoy.

Twentyfourseven - Entourage/Real World Combo Pack

What do you get when you throw seven guys into a sprawling L.A. abode, tell them to do their creative thing, and keep the high beams on and the cameras rolling? No, we're not talking about "Real World" again. It's "Twentyfourseven", MTV's newest reality series based on the same concept as HBO's successful, scripted show "Entourage".

The stars of "Twentyfourseven" come with a variety of backgrounds and interests. The ringleader is 23-year-old Greg Carney, an entrepreneur and transplanted southern boy from Arkansas. Matt Baker is the requisite actor that looks a bit like Val Kilmer, and Ty Hodges is the filmmaker from the valley. Greg Whitman is a young record producer, and reggae-hippie Greg Cipes just wants to make them. Frankie Del Gado lands on the show as the previously-penniless Mexican club promoter for Hugh Hefner. Oh, yeah, and then there's Greg Carney's big brother, Chris, and a smattering of unspecified "A-list friends". Judging by the line-up, it looks like plenty of parties and a good dose of drama is in store.

"Twentyfourseven" is reportedly one of MTV's latest attempts to specifically target and increase their male viewers. (And the network's profits, or so the reasoning goes.) So, feel special, guys, these unscripted buds are for you.

The fledging reality stars will be making their small-screen debut on December 6 at 10:30 pm. In case you've got a life and can't be glued to your TV that night, MTV offers the episode (for free!) for your downloading pleasure on iTunes and iFilm. You can also check out the show's official website for additional dirt.

Boardroom Rockstars - Shane & Shawn of Detny

When twin brothers decide to use their business savvy and eye for fashion toward shoe manufacturing, not only do they raise their pimp status with the "Sex in the City" crowd, but they get the most props from the over-30 working women, who are starting to consider trading in couture for comfort.

With a history in sneaker design and a keen eye for fashion, Shane & Shawn Ward combined their resources and created two footwear lines - Shane&Shawn and Detny by Shane&Shawn – designed to make men and women feel as good as they look. Their shoes have already made their way into top boutiques and department stores and, with plans to launch their own store and clothing/accessories line, they’re guaranteed to be around for as long as women stay sexy.

Can you give us a little background on your company?
Shane: Well, we both went to the University of Michigan, and I studied industrial design in the art school, and Shaun studied mechanical engineering, and when I graduated in 1996, I was offered a job at Adidas in Portland, Oregon, to design cross trainers, women’s workout shoes, and cleats...so that’s pretty much how we got into the industry. [Eventually] the entrepreneurial spirit kicked in, and I really wanted to work on my own, and I decided to start a freelance design company called SW2 Designs and move to NY.

Shawn: When I graduated, I spent five years [working] at Daimler Chrysler, in automotive engineering, while earning my master’s in mechanical engineering. In 2001, I moved to NY because I had the opportunities there to work for myself, become an entrepreneur, and trade stocks in the stock market as a day trader, [but] when the market was closing at 4 o’clock, besides working out, I had pretty much nothing to do, so I started to help Shane out with the freelance company and brought a little bit more of a business side of the operations. My goal was to really take Shane as a one man show and take it to a formal company and expand it, but in the next two years, we ended up designing shoes for Reebok, Converse, Merrill, etc. [With] a really successful freelance design company from 2001 to 2003, we decided to start our own shoe company that reflects our own sense of style, but also combines with the athletic comfort that we’ve had expertise in over the last three years. So, in fall of 2003 we launched Detny, which is a combination of Detroit and New York, where we’re from.

Women love shoes and women love the men who make the shoes, so how has your life adjusted to the career switch (from sportswear to high-end fashion)?

Shawn: It’s definitely an unfair advantage to introduce yourself to a young lady and say you’re a shoe designer. So, obviously, there aren’t too many cooler things that you can say outside of “I’m a rock star.” But usually, if you’re a rock star or an actor, they should know who you are, but as far as like a regular job, designers are really perceived as “cool”. I’m coming from engineering and stock trading, and those aren’t really glamorous jobs, but, you know, being in this field where women love shoes, we’re able to put our shoes on celebrities, and we get a chance to meet celebrities who really embrace our product. Just being in the footwear industry has definitely enhanced our lives big time...it’s definitely a perk.

Shane:
We really are all about the kind of rock-n-roll lifestyle - going to parties, having fun - but we also have substance to our shoes, and I think that’s what brings people back. We actually get, like, old ladies - literally 60 year old women - coming in and telling us how comfortable our shoes are!

If you guys started out with sneakers, what made you branch into shoes? The women’s shoe industry is tough, especially for two straight guys – and, you know, women are picky!

Shane: Well, from a business standpoint, women buy shoes, men don’t -

Shawn: - Generally speaking -

Shane: So, we were forced into it from a business standpoint, but I think over the years we’ve definitely come to appreciate putting shoes onto women, like during our events. We hang around a lot of women, and we don’t wanna just outfit ourselves in what we think is the coolest, hippest shoes that are comfortable, but we would like the girls around us to wear what we think would be hot on them. Another thing is, because we have the athletic background, we know how to build really comfortable shoes, and we would see women in elevators all the time wearing their office gear, but then they have like, New Balance or Nike shoes on and their office shoes in their bags, so there was a need for a shoe that at least can combine the two extremes.

Any plans for the future – expanding your brand, opening your own store, etc.?

Shawn: We’re gonna place [Detny] as a lifestyle brand; footwear’s our expertise right now, so we’re really building our foundation on what we’re experts in, like Kenneth Cole did. But we’re also gonna be launching handbags and hats – limited edition – for fall 2007, and then eventually go on into jackets, denim, shirts, etc, and a part of our business plan is to open our first Detny/Shane&Shawn boutique in 2008.

iPod Chargers Outselling Zune

The demand for everything iPod is so high that even an iPod accessory was outselling Microsoft's new MP3 media player on Amazon.com. Microsoft's new Zune media player, despite heavy marketing, came in only at No. 75 on Amazon's list of 100 best-selling electronics this week. The Zune was trailing many iPod accessories such as Apple's $29.99 iPod USB power adapter, at No. 65.

But in the time since CBS Marketwatch first reported this story on Monday, the Zune has managed to gain some ground on the iPod charger. Amazon updates their sales ranks hourly but when I last checked this morning the score was 59 to 73 with the Zune in the lead. Apple fanboys will probably be disapointed to hear that the Zune is now outselling iPod chargers but some things just take time, effort, and money. Microsoft has at least one of those.

Pete Mortensen from Wired.com has this to say in his blog about these super selling iPod chargers:
"Apple is dominating digital music in a way that they've never owned a category. And what's funny is that I can't really understand why the Mac never had the same kind of runaway success. The limitations of the iPod are similar to those of the Mac, its closed architecture, cheap clone knock-offs, everything. But for some reason, Windows bowled over Apple, while the iPod continues to get more popular by the day. It's a little wonder."

I wonder if Bill Gates knows that a power cord was beating the latest "iPod Killer" from Microsoft.

USB Turntable

Need a reason to pull your records out of storage? A company called ION has created a USB turntable called the iTTUSB. The company claims that this is the world's first USB turntable.

The iTTUSB allows you to convert your old vinyl collection directly to CD or MP3 with the included recording software (Mac/PC) and is a must have for people who don't want to deal with clumsy adapters or mismatched audio formats.

The iTTUSB comes with Audacity, a recording application that works with both PCs and Macs, as well a trial version of Bias Soundsoap 2 to clean and restore vinyl recordings.

As an alternative, the turntable also works with any other software that supports USB audio input sound cards. Once connected, the turntable transfers both 33-1/3 rpm albums and 45 rpm singles to digital formats in mere minutes.

The iTTUSB is great for all those obscure releases that never made it to CD.

A Pain in the Wii

You will probably either sympathize or laugh at this latest story coming from the console gaming community. According to last Saturday's Wall Street Journal (subscription required), gamers are finding that the new Nintendo Wii can be a real pain in the neck... back, shoulder, elbow, wrist, etc.

In case you are unfamiliar with the Nintendo Wii, the controller it comes with is a wireless, motion-sensitive wand-like device. Gamers wave the controller around in the air and depending on which type of game you are playing, the controller can be anything from a sword, gun, tennis racket, or even a steering wheel. However, since the console debuted in mid-November, Nintendo Wii owners are complaining of aching backs, sore shoulders, and even something now called "Wii elbow."

Here are a couple quotes from the WSJ article from Nintendo Wii owners:
Blaine Stuart of Rochester, New York, mistakenly whacked his fiancee, Shelly Haefele, while playing tennis and also accidentally hit his dog while bowling despite the message Nintendo flashes up on the screen before each game which says: "Make sure there are no people or objects around you that you might bump into while playing."

Ryan Mercer, a customs broker in Indianapolis, lifts weights several times a week. But that hasn't helped much with the Wii. After playing the boxing game for an hour and a half, his arms, shoulders and torso were aching. "I was soaking wet with sweat, head to toe -- I had to go take a shower," he says. And the next morning? "I had trouble putting my shirt on," says the 21-year-old avid gamer.

So what do the doctors think about all this? Lana Kang, an orthopedic hand surgeon, had this piece of advice, "It's just like athletic play.... Stretch out and be sure to take care of any injuries afterwards."

With the rate of obese children skyrocketing worldwide, you'd think people would be congratulating Nintendo for combining gaming and exercise, not complaining. Oh well. Grab another Big Mac and wait for the next generation of gaming consoles to come out. Maybe they'll feature 'mind control ' so you don't even have to lift a finger to play.

iPhone Coming Jan 2007

Is the arrival of the iPhone, a hybrid mobile phone and iPod music player from Apple Computer, right around the corner?

According to analysts, Apple is rumored to be ready to release the "iPhone" at the January 2007 Macworld conference. "From a technical standpoint, the phone is pretty much done," said American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu. "It's a big endeavor and we believe it's beyond speculation." Apparently the rumored existence of the iPhone has morphed from a question of "If" to "When."

A trail of clues about the iPhone's existence have been popping up all over the Internet for over a year now:
Since Apple's introduction of the iPod five years ago, the company has sold more than 67 million of the devices and more than 1.5 billion songs from its iTunes online music store. We can only speculate what the iPhone will mean for Apple's bottom line. But as a result of all this iPhone hype and rumors, American Technology Research has upgraded Apple stock (AAPL) to a 'buy' and raised the target price to $92 (US).

The Claro Holographic TV

Right now there's probably no better way to impress your friends then with a translucent TV screen. I'm talking about the Claro Holographic TV; a brand new type of technology that looks like it's straight out of the Jetsons or a movie like Minority Report. With the Claro Holographic TV you can use a projector to watch the upcoming game or the hottest music videos on a transparent display monitor. Not only does this revolutionary piece of technology look cool, it also performs well by providing exceptional picture quality and brightness, even in a well lit room.

The screen itself displays a 40” picture on a narrow sheet of glass, which gives off the illusion of a picture floating in mid air. And anything can be watched on a Claro TV, including cable TV, DVD's and you can even hook up your PC or favorite gaming console. The entire set comes with a pair of Ferguson Hill FH001 speakers, which are encased in glass, just like the TV. The speakers hike the price tag up by £9,999, to a total of £25,000 for the entire set. That's $47,200, and not a penny less.

A limited number of Claro Holagraphic TV's will be sold at Harrod's department store in the United Kingdom. It's easy to see that with a TV like this one, the future is definitely here. Now if we could get our cars to fly.

MyOpenBar.com - Your Guide to Free Booze

It’s really hard to impress your friends on a night out when you’re short on cash, and MyOpenBar.com feels your pain. An online database of the many open bar nights you don’t (but should) know about, MyOpenBar.com lets you in on what’s happening on the cheap at the hottest clubs around, so you can flaunt your faux baller status wisely.

When two guys became fed up in 2005 with spending exorbitant amounts of money each weekend to party, they decided to help themselves (and, in turn, us) by seeking out open bars around the New York area and creating a wildly popular website for hipster lushes. Now, with the inside scoop on bars and clubs in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, and Washington, DC, it’s virtually possible to spend your weekends getting drunk for 20 dollars or less. What’s more, you can subscribe to the site and get constant access to open bar updates, party pics, and news/reviews on what’s happening in or around your area.

After only a year, these guys have successfully brought out the cheap side in everyone and currently have tens of thousands of subscribers and an ever-expanding database. But don’t worry – there are enough free drinks to go around. And around. And around.

We don't usually like things are cheap/free but this is just such a good idea we had to share it ;-)

Aston Martin DBS – The New Bond Mobile

Aston Martin, the British luxury car design company, has announced that the new 007 agent will be driving the signature brand in the upcoming James Bond movie.

The car, which was designed specifically for the role, has not released any specifics on the new model, but Aston Martin design director Mareck Reichman states, “this car encapsulates a link between our elegant DB9 road car and the powerful DBR9 race car. It signals an evolutionary development of Aston Martin’s world renowned style and elegance… The DBS is not of understated elegance of a DB9, nor the youthful agility of the V8 Vantage.

It is explosive power in a black tie and has its own unique character which will equal that of James Bond.” Aston Martin has been providing the style icon’s sports car since 1948. And although details on the new DBS are planned to be released after the movie’s premiere, rumors are that the DBS will feature a more advanced 6.0L V12 putting out more than 500 horsepower and a semi-automatic transmission.

It will also, more than likely, weigh less due to a carbon fiber frame making it lighter and quicker than it’s predecessor the DB9. The company is rumored to be releasing only three hundred of the soon-to-be sought after production models (re-named the DBRS9) priced at somewhere around the 250K mark. The production models are believed to be released in late 2007, although no definite dates have been set.

MSNBC Gets Mac Friendly

I guess the Internet video battle between QuickTime, RealPlayer and Windows Media is over. Who won... none of the above. Sites like MySpace and YouTube have made Flash the standard flavor of video on the Internet. Even Microsoft has thrown in the towel. Their news website, MSNBC.com switched over to Flash in October.

It was probably a painful decision for Redmond to admit defeat, but they were losing eyeballs and ad revenue on a daily basis. If you wanted to watch video on MSNBC.com's site, you had to be using Internet Explorer on a PC. But as the Macintosh user base grew (thanks to the iPod) and more and more people started using the FireFox web browser, Microsoft saw their audience start to shrink. Microsoft had to finally face the fact that they needed a cross-platform video player that worked with other web browsers.

Charlie Tillinghast, president and publisher of MSNBC.com, had this to say in a company email "We have been pushing for a player that works on Mac and Firefox for a long time and are eager to see it launch... Some people assume that Microsoft, and by extension MSNBC, are anti-Mac, but it should be noted that Microsoft makes an outstanding version of Office for the Mac, including the Entourage email system. I purchased a new iMac in anticipation of this release and we have several in use at MSNBC itself."

Is it me or did hell just freeze over at Redmond?

The Hamrick House

Palms Springs has always been a vacation location for the rich, and the Hamrick House is continuing the city legacy in a big way. But this isn't any luxury hotel. The superstars and the super rich who stay at this house want privacy along with their fun, and that's exactly what they get when they rent this state of the art home tucked away in the San Jacinto mountains.

This historic landmark was restored earlier this year, so you know it's fully pimped out. The Hamrick House has five luxurious bedrooms featuring modern interior design, and an expansive pool and lounge area with cabana's, a fire pit and multiple sitting areas. The house comes staffed with a concierge to wait on your every whim and desire. This includes making dinner reservations, spa treatments or things as simple as picking up dry cleaning and doing the grocery shopping.

The premiere feature of the Hamrick House has to be it's state of the art, outdoor movie theater. This is where the guests sit back and relax on plush couches and pop in a favorite movie to watch on a wide screen that takes an entire wall of the house. Now that's livin'. In addition to this, the Hamrick House has flat screen TV's mounted throughout for a more intimate viewing option.

Of course high end luxury doesn't come cheap. The Hamrick House rates start at $2,800 a night, going up to $18,000 a week at peak periods. But having your own private and personal resort experience for a week? Priceless.

"We Are the World" Throw Back

"We Are the World" is a 1985 song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, produced and conducted by Quincy Jones and recorded by a supergroup of popular musicians billed as USA for Africa. The charity single was intended to raise funds to help famine relief efforts in Ethiopia.

According to Wikipeida:
Harry Belafonte initiated the idea for a fundraising effort. His manager, Ken Kragen, suggested the multi-artist approach, inspired by the success of the British supergroup Band Aid and their 1984 fundraising single "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

The performers gathered at A&M Recording Studios in Hollywood, California, on January 28, 1985. Kragen selected the night of the American Music Awards to ensure as many artists as possible could attend. Jones famously advised them, in his written invitation, to "check your egos at the door." In all, 45 musicians attended the recording session, including Bob Geldof, who had arranged the Band Aid effort in the United Kingdom. Lead vocals were rotated among 21 of the performers, including Kenny Rogers, Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Steve Perry, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.

"We Are the World" hit stores on Tuesday, March 7, 1985, and all 800,000 copies sold out before the end of the weekend. It debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number twenty-one. On April 5 (Good Friday in that year), more than 5,000 radio stations played the song at the same time.

The song went on to win 1985 Grammys for Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group.

Ultimately, the single sold 7.5 million copies in the US. It was released on an album, We Are the World, which sold over three million copies. Including revenues from the single, the album, the video and related merchandise, "We Are the World" raised about $50 million for famine relief.
