Johnny Utah's In New York
New York City might be the center of culture, but many of it's residents just want to party with a little south western flair. That pretty much explains the success of Johnny Utah's, a restaurant that only opened in July of this year but has quickly become a hot spot. Located in Rockefeller plaza, this restaurant let's city guys and gals life out their cowboy (or cowgirl) dreams. The menu is full of South Western flavor with popular items such as Texan BBQ ribs, Texas brisket, Angus burgers and crispy catfish. And all of this can be washed down with selections from their bar, which includes authentic Mexican tequila, and a super spicy margarita called Mexican Heat.
All though all this talk about food probably has you watering at the mouth, the cuisine isn't exactly the center attraction at Johnny Utah's. Smack dab in the middle of the dining room is Manhattan's one and only mechanical bull. Every table in the house has a view of this bull, and anyone dining at the restaurant can take their turn to see how long they can stay on. This is definitely a source of great dining entertainment, even those who don't choose to jump on.But don't let all this talk of bull riding fool you, Johnny Utah's still has an upscale feel to and a clientèle to match. No doubt diners enjoy the fancy meets down home decor of the restaurant with it's paisley print chairs and bull horn chandeliers.
So if you're in the area and want to have a good ole' time, impress your friends by suggesting this unique eatery.And if your looking for the hottest spot in all of NYC on Mondays, Johnny Utah's has paired with the PBR (that's Professional Bull Riders, not the hipster/steelworker beer) to host a mechanical rodeo competition for the three Mondays in December leading up to the real deal rodeo at MSG in January.
