Go ahead and hate Nikki Reed a little. After all, she's gorgeous, talented, and famous, and you're not dating her. But, hey, she's also a super-cool chick, so don't go hating on her too much.

Born Nicole Houston Reed on May 17, 1988 in Los Angeles, Nikki's good looks come from a Jewish father and an Italian/Cherokee Native American mother. Nikki describes herself as "mature" and "responsible", and says that she grew up quickly. So quickly, in fact, that she moved out and began living on her own at the tender age of fourteen.

Nikki's first glimpse of fame and fortune came when she and director Catherine Hardwicke (also her father's ex-girlfriend) co-wrote the screenplay "Thirteen" in just six short days. When it became clear that most teenage actresses found the role of the sexually-charged main character uncomfortable, Reed found herself in front of the camera as well as behind it. The novice actress wowed audiences with her portrayal of Evie, and "Thirteen" became an instant coming-of-age classic.

Since then, Nikki has excelled in several similar roles in smaller films, including "The Lords of Dogtown". New to her resume is a stint on the popular teen drama "The O.C", and "Mini's First Time", which hit select U.S. theaters in July 2006. Interestingly enough, Reed notes that she never particularly considered being an actress when she was younger.

Keep your eyes open for more silver screen appearances by Nikki. With brains, beauty, and another script in the works (a retro piece set in New Zealand), she is certain to continue showcasing her talents. So, just keep on loving and hating her; this girl's got enough star quality to be the Minx of every month.
