Harry Winston Westminister Flying Tourbillon
"Harry Winston's jewelry empire began with his acquisition of Arabella Huntington's famed jewelry collection. Wife of railroad magnate Henry Huntington, Arabella amassed one of the world's most prestigious collections of jewelry, largely from Parisian jewelers such as Cartier.
When Harry Winston purchased the collection after her death, the designs of the collection were quite old fashioned. Harry Winston redesigned the jewelry into more contemporary styles and showcased his unique skill at jewelry crafting. "
The new watch combines the fine technology of the tourbillon (a type of mechanical clock designed to defy the effects of gravity that interfere with the chronometer ) and the minute repeater which mimicks the chimes of the clock tower on the Palace of Westministser. The watch is a limited collection of eight done in 18 karat rose gold and as well as another version done in a gem-set.
Besides the luxury encasing, the main draw to these timeless pieces is the superior craftsmanship put into workings of the clock. The Westminister Flying Toubillon features sapphire glass, a 70 hour power reserve, thirty-four rubies, manual winding, a 44mm diameter, black alligator strap, a flying tourbillon, and a repeater with four cathedral gongs set to the exact specifications of the Westminister clock tower.
The movement is also visible through the front and the back crystal glass and has 21,600 vibrations per hour. Although exorbitantly priced, these classics are sure to go quick. This limited edition is available only at Harry Winston salons.
