Top 5 Penthouses of 2006
PimpWiz has brought you the ADD version of the Forbes Magazine’s Most Expensive Penthouses 2006The top 5 sickest apartments for you to drool over.
#5: Park Tower – Chicago, IL ($11 million)
With 12-foot ceiling-to-floor windows, a capacity for six decent-sized bedrooms, and two offices, this crib at the top of Chi-town’s Park Hyatt hotel tower offers more than enough rooms for a few kids or the party of the year. The added gym keeps you from fighting for the last treadmill or wiping someone else’s sweat off of the bench press, and residents have full access to the hotel services and their own private concierge. Think Eloise.
#4: 51 Commonwealth Avenue – Boston, MA ($14 million)
This technically-a-penthouse is really a three-and-a-half floor apartment atop a double townhouse, but the seven bedroom/marble bath combinations, 35-foot-wide deck, and gourmet kitchen definitely make this 8,650 foot spread noteworthy. Definitely enough room for a giant tea party.
#3: The Wilshire – Los Angeles, CA ($14.5 million)A hermit’s agoraphobi-gasm, this place gives you very little reason to ever leave the house. The two-story residential space at the top of the Wilshire hotel not only has its own hair salon and gift-wrapping room, but incorporates new school into classic chic with antique furniture, crystal chandeliers, and pure silk curtains. Sauna lovers can also avoid being seen their grossest at public gyms with the private steam shower in the main suite.
#2: The Continuum – Miami Beach, FL ($18 million)
Though this place isn’t even a “big” penthouse compared to its less-pricey competitors, it’s located in one of the most popular Florida cities and gains true exclusivity simply from what it has inside. Flat-screen TVs in every room, a six-viewer movie theater, powder rooms, and imported fixtures – a wine bar made of Brazilian slate, for instance – are essential to the true modern romance. If that isn’t enough, all of the showers are built against floor-to-ceiling windows for the little exhibitionist in all of us.
#1 – THE BIGGIE: The Pierre Hotel – New York, NY ($70 million)
No, you didn’t read that incorrectly; this 70-million-dollar joint is, aside from being the most expensive penthouse in the US, almost 14,000 square feet – think about five average 4-person houses shoved under one roof and still finding space to breathe. With three floors, 23-foot ceilings, four terraces and a grand view of New York City from any window in the house, this place is the epitome of luxury.
