Skydiving - Skys The Limit!
Many people who don’t even categorize themselves as ‘thrill seekers’ make skydiving one of their ultimate lifetime goals. Why? Perhaps it’s one adventure that will guarantee your induction into the Giant Balls Hall of Fame. Skydiving is one of those impulsive sources of affirmation that everyone needs once in a while, considering the fact that jumping out of a moving plane really seems like the most ridiculous thing one would do for “fun.”Unlike the classic Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze action adventure "Point Break", you can’t actually skydive alone your first time – a good thing, considering the fact that, once you’re up there, you probably wouldn’t jump any time soon if you were going alone. Instead, tandem jumping involves strapping an experienced jumper to your back and pretty much leaving the rest up to them. ‘Sky’s the Limit’ skydiving facility in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania is not only legit, but fairly priced for a tandem jump. The constant videos and wavers reminding you that you’re at risk for “serious injury or death” don’t really aid the nervous, but cracking inappropriate death jokes with friends can actually make the prospect of a crazy skydiving adventure seem as mild as a kiddie park ride.
The entire experience is pretty awesome – you get to see a birds-eye view of your surroundings, and your tandem partner is (well, should be) pretty good at keeping you calm. Though falling from the plane Passenger 57-style at a million miles an hour can make you temporarily wonder what the hell you were thinking, the actual freefall is comparable to floating – hence all those videos of people who don’t look like they’re going anywhere at all. The fall lasts only one minute before the parachute opens up, devoting another five to taking in the scenery, feeling totally proud of your accomplishment, and coming up with small-talk for the guy who, until now, you’d pretty much almost forgotten was hanging from your backside.
