The Eos Experience
Shout to Gridskipper.com for this write-up.Inside Traveler has an extensive first-hand account of flying on Eos, the all-biz-class airline running the New York to London route.
In addition to charmingly subservient pandering for check-in and arrival (you get to laze around in the Emirates Airlines lounge, no less), the onboard situation sounds pretty sweet, or “suite”:
The interior of an Eos plane looks like a corporate jet crossed with a Japanese capsule hotel. Forty-eight individual “suites” (21 square feet–or two square meters–each) boast fully reclining seats.
We are offered champagne, a satchel of toasted cashews, a hot towel, an amenity kit, and a portable entertainment device with Bose noise-canceling headset. A flight attendant hands me a menu outlining a five-course gourmet dinner. The seven-hour Atlantic crossing is thus occupied with dinner, movies, and breakfast in bed.
Round-trip fares start at $2,950, which is quite good for a transatlantic business-class fare. Expect other airlines’ prices to plummet if Eos can get enough planes in the air to make a dent in the market."
