Ask Lauren #5 - "Matchmaker in NJ"
Dear Lauren,
So I have this friend who I think should be with this great girl, but they never seem to get it right. I know that they are right for each other because of the time I have spent with both of them, but I am torn what I should do?
Should I try to help them get together or stay out of it. They are two beautiful, funny, successful people and I think it is a shame that timing and petty issues have kept them apart.

Dear Matchmaker in NJ (aka Cupid),
I think you need to leave this one up to the sex gods. As great as you may think this guy and girl are, their chemistry as a pair has nothing to do with you. In fact, their booty fate lies completely in their own hands, and unless you want your hands on them at the same time, then there is no room for cupid in this equation.
All you can do is make an introduction and then step back and observe (if you are so lucky that they let you). It sounds like you have your own motives for them working out, whether it’s to get your friend laid and off your back about going chick-fishing every night of the week or to get closer to the one girl that never paid any attention to you (and this motive is just never productive), make sure your heart is in the right place. Matchmaking in vain is a dangerous, and well, backfiring hobby so do it only if you really mean it.
Timing and petty issues will not stand in the way of something if it is truly right. Try not to put that pressure on yourself and instead, spend extra time looking at your own love life. It wouldn’t hurt if Cupid shot himself in the a*s once and awhile.
Best Wishes and Happy Matchmaking,
Lauren
