Reply from "Ask Lauren"
"Lauren,
Just a quick question, really. I'm really into this woman I met a
while ago, but she's a bit older than me. 14 years older, to be
exact (I'm 20). What are some ways to interact with her that will
lessen my chances of striking out? My understanding is that the
usual rules don't always apply to woman who're older than your
average bar-goer.
With many thanks,

Let’s be honest, the theory that age is just a number does NOT hold true. Age makes a huge difference in terms of life experience and relationship goals. At times, the age barrier can be too difficult to overcome, but it is dependent on the individuals involved. Be yourself, act your age, offer your knowledge and wisdom from where you are in your life, and visa versa. I am sure you will both be surprised to learn a lot even if you are 14 years her junior.
The point is, even if you don’t strike out on the first attempt by throwing some 34-year old sounding bull**** her way, you will the next time, or the next time. You can’t pretend to be someone your not, or an age your not, that long. If there is chemistry, and the two of you just seem to click, well then it is true that in the bedroom, size does matter, as does the motion in the ocean, but age in bed, well then it’s just a number."
