Dear Friend Zone,
First off, congrats on waiting the 2 days to call her. Smart move. That will keep her “fit-self” her on her toes. Your idea for the date is very unique and sounds like a blast so I am sure she would love it.

When a girl says she is busy when you ask her out for the first time, it’s a tough call. You probably can’t tell yet if it’s an excuse to get out of it or if she is legitimately busy. I would feel her out, not up (not yet at least), but feel her out. Ask her to let you know when she would be free to do that, what works best for her. If she doesn’t come back to you within a reasonable time frame, you need to take the hint and move on to the next gym-bunny. But leave the ball in her court for now.

You can also assume that if she says she wants to go on the date/hang out outside of the gym, she wants to be more than friends. If she wanted to just be buddies, she would leave the relationship as it is- nothing more than “hellos” in-between sets. So that will work itself out. Just relax and enjoy the game.
